Title: Unidentified Makers mark?
Post by: nannachicky on November 15, 2010, 05:46:39 AM
Hi, I have recently acquired 2 pieces of Australian pottery which have an impressed "U" on the base.  I haven't been able to find out the maker that uses this mark.  One piece is a gourd shaped bowl which has U-68 on it & the other is a dish which looks like 2 leaves facing opposite directions & joined along one side, this has U1 on it.  Can anyone help me with information on them?  Thanks

:cheerleader: Hi there and Welcome to the Board  :cheerleader:

Do you have a picture that you can post of the item, and of the mark??  What is this mark on (vase, bowl, or what).

I am just going to take a wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild guess here with the little info I have....Maybe the U stands for:
UCAGCO (United China and Glass Co.) ???? as I am not sure???

..........or any of these (as a Guess ONLY) without seeing the Mark

As Rose says, we do really need good clear photos of the mark to be able to help. Welcome to the board. :)
