I have this pix, purchased for $5 at garage sale. I know nothing, nor can I make out the signature. :-\
-
Crikey Rose, I can't make that out either. ::) Nice pic though.
-
Any chance of a closer pic of the signature? I think I can almost make it out

PLEASE, if you can  it is impossible to research it. I will take another photo closer, and post it later (real later....)
I would be wonderful if you can...all I can make out is (I think) is Ev-----by, and I am not sure of that ?
Thanks Winterice Keep up the good work :sign_gj:

for winterice - closer photo.

There is anotherone on ebay (if you enter enderby) and that has the same signature as yours. It's called: Farmhouse Pond landscape. I think you got it realy cheep!
-
I did a bit of rooting around and I began to wonder whether it was one of those mass-produced (read mass copied) oil paintings you can buy quite cheaply, certainly in the UK. Particularly as the signature seemed to vary and yet the pictures all subscribed to the same basic formula. Enderby might be used because it isn't the name of a real artist

The E-bay listing of 300184306771 does look like same style, and style of signature, I think.
The other one, writing is not even the same, but the above ebay item seems to be.....???
Even if that one sold for $140.....that's more than what I invested in it... :) :24: I still like it, and like I said, the writing on the one (300184306771) sure looks the same....
We will just keep digging..... ;)

??? ??? ???
E-bay.co.uk -- 270158789256 painting by Enderby US $2,700.00 (and has two bids...)
The sellers is listed as Le Chateau Gallery a Michigan art gallery. That they are devoted to the exhibition of work by nationally recognized talents.

Sorry antiquerose, I agree with Lustrousstone, the company you mention are being a bit cheeky with their valuation as the picure is almost certainly from a factory in China (though there are other places). There are so many showing up at present. If anyone could get that price Ill be sending some more, as these regularly go unsold at my local auction rooms by the box full.
I wouldn't spend too much time seaching the name-Most of the Chinese pictures are signed in a non-Chinese name.
Ive got 3 of these factory sites saved - and can often spot the factory-Not this time but these are a little similar.

David, for some reason you just brought back an old memory from when i lived in Germany, we used to have door to door sales men selling painting's like this, ( this may be different to your's Rose ) and you could choose your own frame, could this be the same company?
-
I emailed the Gallery selling the eBay one to ask if they could tell me more about Enderby but have had no reply as yet. If they do respond I'll let you know. :)
-
OOH good idea Anne.
-
I'd love to see what they say. I had a look at their stock, several are obviously factory pictures others are just of 'interesting' quality. But have you read the description??? I think the pricing depends on the number of words in the description it is certainly not determined by the quality!

There is one described as being in a beautiful golden PLASTIC frame!
-
So Christine, are you saying that plastic and beautiful are mutually exclusive then? >:D
-
No, but you know what I mean. :nah:
-
:24: I know! :24:

Was just rooting around here....
The picture I have here, and similar picture on E-bay (by same artist) was at $2700 before, now it is up to $4,700 with 5 offers ( 270158789256 )
How long are bids taken for items? Since I do use E-bay, I have not idea? Are offers open for that long? (January bid was $2700) now in August the bid is at $4700???
Should we try to contact the seller for info again...see if we get a response this time...
-
That's not an auction. It's a fixed price but you can make an offer and the seller doesn't have to accept. The seller is just taking the pi** there is no way it is worth that. Someone who has over 500 items in an ebay shop but has only sold 18 in 12 months is just using ebay as cheap advertising
-
Allegedly :)
-
Oh, i never looked at that...500 items but only sold 18 in 12 months?? Hmmmmm-m-m-m-

Still looking for info (new) on this: All I found is this? http://www.mythings.com/valuations.aspx?itemid=1061559 A person might have to just check that out....
