Looks like it is made of fibreglass.

100% normal glass with, probably, hand painted decoration. Notice the clear glass on the bottom rim, the decoration has worn away.

Which is also how fg shades used to appear, need a good close up, is the outer surface textured and inside smooth.

Yes.

Does fibreglass crack easily? If not, it's glass, or was glass.

Can do, just like glass.. cos it is glass. Although more modern ones tend to go splintery because of a cheaper modern resin I guess. There was an artist made her name by making scupltures from fusing glass fibres... forget the name. It was discovering a lot of shades made from fibreglass in the 50s that got me interested but that research is on a back burner now. They were being produced on a small scale in the 30s and 40s and possibly late 19th century too.
