Majolica
Are there any impressed marks at all?

Hi Carolyn,
Tigerchips is right, it's majolica, usually called a begonia leaf comport. There's a lot of examples out there that aren't marked, and if so, it probably came out of England. I find them there with amazing regularity. It seems to have been a very popular motif with the Victorian crowd. Hope this helps!

Majolica
Are there any impressed marks at all?
Yup, that's what I was trying to type
I thought that all Majolica came from one place (Portugal?)
No, no impressed marks. Just the 35 or whatever. Looks like it was done in a felt tip pen, but under the glaze.
Carolyn.
