Holkham Pottery, Norfolk
« on: March 04, 2008, 02:14:16 PM »
Situated on the Holkham estate in Norfolk. This mug is one of their standard souvenir-ware shapes. I've seen it with various tourist attractions on it, mine is for Beaulieu Abbey.
Cheers!

I love these sets, very retro. Not uncommon either but you might find it difficult to get a hold of a coffee pot/teapot. Or a set like this. They came in different colours and there is a queen Elizabeth commemorative version.

These remind me so much of the jug which was discussed over on the GMB a while ago - looking like such a modern shape yet dating from the 1930s - http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,4919.0.html

Super design though...  I've only seen the style I have before, totally different huh.
Cheers!

Yes, Anne they are a similar design.  I've also seen a black ceramic jug in a charity shop which is along these lines - I may get it.  Here's some more - T102, I also have a pair in green.

The shape was probably used with Pub jugs too.

Here's a jug, not sure who made it. The numbers on the base are similar to Carlton Ware numbers.
