Looks Eastern European to me too.  Some kind of traditional costume - may be one worn for dancing.
Can't help with the actual doll, but the ribbon trimming on her costume looks very like some vintage ribbons that I have, which I believe to date back to the 50s or 60s.  That's what caught my eye.
Anyway, what's wrong with a bloke collecting dolls?  ;) :gcheer:

Hi Keith -- Love your doll!!!  :24: :24:

To me the style of costume she is wearing look either ???? Ukrainian, or Hungarian?? but these are guesses.  Some of the flowers style in there too remind me of that

I am leaning towards Hungarian first though, IMHO......as I have that in my Roots....so I kinda just feel that way, and by some doilies and things I have here --------- but then I could be completely wrong too.    :taped:

Hungarian: HERE Click and here is a example of color, and design for clothing flowers Here

With the Babushka on the head, she could also be a gypsy,  as I think they were called that too.

Another name for Hungarians is MAGYAR:

See, bet you did not know I knew this much ( cough, cough ) but looks it to me....one of the Countries there.  Nothing on the back of her neck?  Nothing stitched in a *language* on the inside of any clothing.  Can you take off her boots, anything writing there?

If you find some writing somewhere on her, even IF you can't read it -- it gives you a language..:24: :24:

I like MY European Roots !!!  ;D
Every flower that has ever bloomed, had to go through a whole lot of DIRT FIRST......:flowers2:

Hi Keith, I believe the doll is dressed in Russian costume. :)

Hello Anik,I suppose there are lots of regional variations in costumes, the puffy sleeves made me think of Germany or Austria,I'll have to do a deeper study of Russian clothing(it'll keep me in Lins good books),thank you,
   Keith.

Hello TC,what me or the doll? ;D,no marks, difficult to see as the clothes appear to have been sewn onto the doll and are quite fragile so don't want to pull at them in case they rip,Lin wouldn't be happy.

Have been told by a very nice lady in Amsterdam (doll collector) that it's from Moravia in the Czech Republic ;D
