The red one looks to say Ida and Saul Epstein? And the other looks like a Spanish name. Enamelled copper dishes from East Germany are often found, but these don't look to have German accents

These could possibly be French. I've seen similar pieces which were made in the Limoges region, where there was (and possibly still is) a cottage industry something along the lines of the Newlyn copper work from the early 20thC.
If you always expect the worst you'll never be disappointed.

It's probably nothing to do with the names on the plate, but there is a Saul and Ida Epstein Research Laboratory at UCSF in the USA: http://ohns.ucsf.edu/research/epstein/index.asp
Cheers!

I am looking at the one here....Possibly - -Spanish - - the name HERVE...I look at it and think I see something like:

HERVE BOVENO...or....HERVE BORENA...or HERVE BOVINE...

I am thinking Spanish, or Mexican, or like Argentina...???  As isn;t the name *Herve* that descent?
