If you are using a shared PC make sure you log out at the end of your session. This protects your account privacy and especially important if you use a PC in a public library or an internet cafe.

Hi all

I'm new to studio pottery collecting and recently picked this pot up. I wondered if any forum members recognised the stamp/makers mark.  I'm not having any luck finding an ID for it.

Hi Mark, welcome to the board. Not everyone pops in every day so be patient... the answer could be just around the corner.

I must admit I don't recognise the mark at all, and it's not easy to make out what it's meant to be... is the mark on the base or the side of the pot?

Hi Mark...

(This is just a Guess) - to me it looks like block thing with the something that reminds me of a crescent moon/star symbol with a bit of a tail on the crescent star...  Can you see anything that may look like a star also in it?

I think now that this mark is not from a 'mainstream' piece (maybe the work of a student?). The mark almost looks like one of those freemason things (compass & square??) Still whatever I quite like it and it sits in illustrious company between a Colin Pearson unomi and a Lowerdown vase in my cupboard (if only humans could integrate so well eh..?)

It's a studio pot and the trouble with them is there are dozens of studios/potters, plus all those that no longer exist, plus those that only potted as a hobby rather than for selling. And that's just the UK, never mind the rest of the world  :o

In form and glaze it reminds me of the chinese preserve jars used around 1850-1930 to store food exported to the west for expatriate chinese workers on the railways, canals and like....they aren't usually marked so that may simply have been the inspiration for potter.

Martyn, I think you may be right. The form of mine is exactly like the one on sale on E bay (only $18 - darn it!)
