I could use some help with ID
« on: February 16, 2010, 04:01:25 AM »
Hi, This is my first post for pottery. I haven't had much until recently and I don't know what this piece is. It is earthen I think but don't know because it is encased in a form fitted leather. It also has a pottery band that i think it was carved from to put the leather on. It isn't real big, maybe 5" tall and maybe 8" across at the widest. It's marked but I don't know or recognize the name. Maybe Haly or H Aly. It's numbered 26/6 so I didn't know if that meant is was from 1926 or a limited edition. Any help would be appreciated.

Eli

Hmmm I think this says ITALY too. There are several areas of ceramics production in Italy, so again it might be a toughie to pin down.
Cheers!

Hi there:

That is my same thought -- it says * ITALY *....  Almost 98% sure... Take a peek around here, see if anything there

http://www.ronzan.it/marchi.htm

I went to *Fleabay* to peek around just to show you SOME OTHER EXAMPLES of HOW ITALY IS SIGNED on some other pieces.  Just so you can see why we are pretty sure -- Yours also says Italy.  Look at the pictures of these items, and HOW they are signed on the Bottom....Examples below:

Sample One-Click Here

Sample TWO-Click Here

Sample THREE-Click Here

Sample FOUR-Click Here

I would have NOT known that either years ago, had it not been for the Board Teaching me too...I too would have thought it said "Haly" -- Honest

Thanks for all of your help! I really appreciate it. I can't believe that I didn't see it as Italy...
