NOT Mudlen End!
« on: August 24, 2007, 04:45:55 PM »
Following on from my post about the Mudlen End Studio cottages, I have another similar building, bought on the same trip to East Anglia, but NOT made by Mudlen End!  This one was also bought in the town where the building stood - I think it might be the Town Hall, or the Guild Hall - but I can't remember where that was!  :-[ ::)  Does anyone recognise it - either the building or the pottery where it was made?  There are no marks underneath, and it is considerably lighter than the Mudlen End buildings.

It's 4 and 1/2 inches long by 2 and 1/4 wide.

Thanks, Kev.  I've got a Tey pottery house - Littlecote House - with a label on the base, and I can certainly see similarities with my unlabeled one.  Also, the Norfolk link makes it sound very likely to me.  I just wish I could remember where 'my' building was  ???  I know the gallery where I bought it was quite near the real building, but I can't remember which town it was in  ::)

I've sent a copy of the pic to my mother in Norfolk via my nephew to see if she knows. I've a feeling Suffolk is more likely

Thanks, Christine.  Could indeed be Suffolk!  We were on a 'Family History' research holiday.   We visited the farm my great grandfather used to own at Kirby Cane, near Bungay, and the church where my great great grandfather and great x3 grandmother and family are buried, at Willingham.   I remember we also went to Lavenham, Woodbridge and to Sutton Hoo.  Sheesh!  Could be anywhere!  ??? ::)

Having asked the nephew if he got my email, to discover the answer was yes but he hadn't (bothered) shown my mother the picture and he would do it right now - the answer is don't know, sorry. That makes me think more likely Suffolk or even Essex than Norfolk

Hi folks,
Suffolk was right, unless there is another very similar hall. It looks just like Woodbridge town hall just a few miles down the road from me.
