Topic: Oriental lady painted on silk with script

Not really my cup of tea, but it belongs to my son, so I'm asking on his behalf.  He seems to think it might be a tourist type picture.  I think it may be painted on a silk as I can see a tiny woven pattern if I look through a lens.  The border is definately fabric.  I'm guessing it is Japanese and not Chinese, but just wonder if anyone has an idea what the script might say on the left?

Can't help with this one,it might be Chinese in which case we need Steven,hand written script is difficult to read,I have trouble with the simple stuff
