Indeed! Mind you I'd have bought it at a boot fair too cos it was a nice piece... not sure which boot fair it was, but somewhere near me, and the auction it sold at is my local one too. I must pop along one day and see what they have there. It's been years since I went to an auction!

I have never found anything that good at a boot fair. Best thing I found, was at an antique centre, it was a Victorian Minton tile, paid £20 and knew it was a lot more than that - £250, not as good as the Burmantofts!

A Russian silver enamel box and a silver bowl are the best things that i've bought from car boot, as far as i can remember.

I like the silver bowl, nice finds.

The only good silver find I had was a Britannia silver sugar caster hallmarked for 1702, paid just under £600 for it and I did sell it in the end for £1,950

They were! Plus from the same person I picked up an oblong sandwich plate for £2.50 which I later sold on for around £32.00 so that covered the cost of all three items!

The mirrors are approx 24" x 18" each and no damage on either of them. The curvy one hangs in our bedroom, the tri-coloured one in the lounge. It gets much-commented on by visitors!!!

It rarely happens to me!

. Even our local charity shops are more about clothes than bric a brac these days...

The charity shops round here have a dealer go round and he buys all the good stuff from them before they even hit the shelves, the rest he prices up for them and its always at the high end, you see those pieces sit there for months.

I did go recently to the charity shops locally a month or so ago and the quality has gone down in most of them round here. Likewise, there seemed to be less bric a brac and more clothes and kids toys.
