Maori feather box.
« on: January 17, 2017, 02:25:55 PM »
I'm sure I posted this ages ago, only just got round to doing a bit of research, thanks to a museum in New Zealand we now know it's an original piece of Maori Waka Huia, made of Totara wood and probably from central or Eastern NZ, not bad from Brums old rag market about 15 years ago  :o ;D ;D ;D

Wow! That's amazing, Keith.  How old might it be, did the museum say?
Cheers!

Difficult to put a definite date on it but anywhere between 1840- 1900, online auction prices are amazing !

Tempting  ;D  but Linda might have something to say about it, we both collect tribal carvings and it's her favourite piece !

Ahhhhh maybe not then! Keeping the piece (and the peace!) will be safer. :)
Cheers!
