Royal Worcester: Alexander Hardie Williamson
« on: October 06, 2007, 07:30:38 PM »
Hi, everyone.

Glassies here will know from GMB that I'm researching Alexander Hardie Williamson and his glass designs for Sherdley and Ravenhead. I've read that he also did some designs for Royal Worcester and have come across this series of botanical plates which is marked "A H Williamson": http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6171.

Does anyone here know any more, either about this series (when it was designed, how long it was produced for etc) or about any other designs AHW may have done for Royal Worcester?

Many thanks in advance,

Heidi

PS - thanks to Anne for getting this forum going. I've been a bit slow to catch on, but I'm here now...  :)

I can only find the same info as I expect you have already got - that of Replacements Ltd, who have a lot of pictures, but no info.
Have you considered contacting John Sandon at Bonhams - I am sure you know he and his father are the accepted experts on Worcester, and Henry may even have worked with AHW at Worcester.  His contact email is on the Bonhams website:

Hi Heidi, good to see you here. :) I hadn't thought of AHW in terms of pottery or I'd have hassled you to join sooner! Those plates are super, aren't they?
Cheers!
