San Marino " Amalfi " Plate - Decorative
« on: November 13, 2007, 06:00:45 AM »
Hi, I have this plate i bought at a thrift store.  Not sure where to post, but I (think) Amalfi is some Italian place (?)  Not sure.

Always, It was marked $5.99, but I got for $3.99.  There is a original sticker on it that says (looks like) $ 5000.  I DO NOT THINK THAT IT WAS $5000, but I just do NOT see any DOT.  Then again, maybe it is like (I dunno know) $5000 in Euro's (or something). I just can't see a dot in the number -- maybe it is just faded ??  So do not know if it mean like $50.00 (US Dollars), or something like $5000 Euro dollars....do not know  ??? ???

The edges are really rough....just like the pic shows.....not rough as in unfinished....but rough as in the texture of it....I only posted it because this rough texture reminds me of how some of the finishes on your German Fat Lava posts look it.....the roughness... :24: :24:...but what do I know... :-\

Anyways here it is.  Please advise me any information on it at all.... :hlp:

AR - yeah you did fine.  They're not particularly high-value items and generally speaking the items decorated with the 60s iconic looking girls tend to fetch the best prices but if you paid pennies for it then you can't lose can you.

:boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:  Worth more than I paid  :-\  I hope..

I've been to Amalfi!

I had a holiday there, staying in one of the flats directly above the tunnel where the road goes through the cliff.

San Merino is nearby, so is the Isle of Capri, and Pompeii.

I think, Rose, that the 5000 probably refers to the currency lira, which back in the 60's was about 1500-1800 to the ?.

Pretty thing, though I do have a slight preference for Bitossi!
