Unknown Mug (not me I hope)
« on: January 16, 2008, 12:36:47 PM »
Bought this at the local charity shop, and have a funny feeling I have seen this couple before but have no idea where. Looks 50s/60s couple dancing under a couple of paper lanterns, she has an impressive hair style while he has the biggest nose I have ever seen!
Base stamp is badly blurred, could be
Boflo, Hoflo, Holtz, or any combination of those letters. All I can say for sure is it is 5 letters long and the 2nd letter is an O.
Any info?
Anyone?

I spent an hour or so with all the combinations I could think of but no joy.
Can't even say if it is English, Italian or German. I'm at a bit of a loss with this one for a while. Nearly missed it tucked behind a big old thermos flask.!!

This could be the wildest guess on the board....

Could it be *Balle*....or as a start to look under something else ?  (Balle an Fheirtearaigh) ??

Thanks everyone, but so far nothing, wish I could read the stamp better but it is just too smudged. Will have to put it on the shelf and hope one day I find out what it is. It looks Italian and the clay is a bright terracotta I don't know if it shows but the glaze is just a fine wash rather than a full covering. Might help?
