Mystery plate - ID = Denby
« on: February 19, 2008, 05:15:40 PM »
Teaplate-sized plate. Hard to describe but the top colour is dark blue, the undercolour is a dark mossy greeny browny colour. The base is the same undercolour, the rim showing the base clay is a creamy colour. No marks at all anywhere. Does anyone know who made it please?  When I picked it up I thought maybe Hornsea or Denby but aren't they normally marked?
Cheers!

There's not much to see, Sue. ;)  I've changed the first picture too as it was much too shiny - the newer pic shows the finish much better.
Cheers!

Denby marks are often printed on and seem to wash off.... Mind you black wouldn't show up very well anyway

Yeah I thought they may not have put one on for that reason Christine. Black on black isn't such a good plan! :) I'm just delighted to have found it - when I picked them up I thought, hmmm Denby?
Cheers!
