Wedgwood Mulberry ?The Potter? 11 inch Plate
« on: October 25, 2007, 12:10:45 PM »
I have looked everywhere for more info on this plate.  Does anyone out there know anything about it other than what I have?
States in the ribbons on the top front:
?Within The Potter?s House Surrounded By The Shapes of Clay? (Omar Khayyam).

This 11" diameter Wedgwood piece depicts in Mulberry an ancient potter sitting at a table working on a pot surrounded by may other completed shapes of pots. The beautiful raised designs around the edge are fruits and vegetables (pineapple, grapes, tomatoes, etc.) This piece states on the back:  ?The Potter?  Presented by Beeshy?s China Shop Ridgeway, Ontario.  ?Canada?s most Famous Village Shop?  The scene on this Typical Wedgwood Piece was inspired by the 800 lb Black Basalte Bas-Relief Wedgwood panel.  ?The Potter? produced for our Shop-Front in 1928.  It is the largest Piece of Wedgwood ever made.   Wedgwood Etruria, England.  Marked ?J? or maybe small crossed ?f? in blue stamped into the plate is WEDGWOOD & 4DFSS (really hard to read) Also states on the back WELLESLEY, WEDGWOOD Made In England.

Thank you so much again!!!

Hi, do you have a shorter name we could call you?  anyway, i think Wellesley is a pattern name and that Wedgwood made it for the American market,
