Topic: Kaiser and Schonwold

My Father died recently, he had quite a collection of German Porcelain - I think presents from Business friends over the years.

For the purpose of Probate I need to put a rough value to things.

Can anyone tell me if pieces from either of the above to factories are possibly collectible, or can I safely value everything at a nominal ?5 a piece?

I have a huge collection of photos I can upload if that would be useful at all.

Ok I hope this OK, I've uploaded  a batch of photos below:-

Item 1 - is by Schonwold - I think it's a Fondu set or something similar - complete and never used.

Kaiser 1 - is a pair (I think) of vases - by Kaiser.

Kaiser 2 - is a set of 2 pieces (Only one in the photo though) - and my favourite I have to say

Kaiser 3 - is  a matching vase, cigarette box and ashtray (The rare small blue jug in the background is a unique Steve label - School Pottery class circa 1972!)

Kaiser 4 - Is another pair of matching vases.

I have a load of English stuff as well.. and some stuff I have no idea what it is!

Hi Steve, welcome to the board, it's good to see you here. May I offer my sympathy on your bereavement too.

According to this site http://www.geocities.com/rodeodrive/6544/ where I was yesterday in search of info on Alboth and Kaiser, the Kaiser mark dates pieces from 1970 onwards. I'm sure others will be able to add more but the link above should help you date the Kaiser pieces at least. 

Valuations are, as ever, always subjective and dependent on the market place - if you need an absolute verified value you may need to consider approaching a specialist appraiser, who would not only have the experience but also be insured to be able to value for you. Any valuation given on the board here would only be the opinion of that person, I hope that's acceptable for you.  Feel free to ask as much as you like though, we'll do our best to help.

Yes.. I understand the valuation, at this stage I'm just trying to get an idea of value 50p, ?5 or ?50 or ?500 - I really have no idea.
