Hello, and what is it?
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:05:47 PM »
Hello, I'm new to this board and occasionally need help in ID of pieces of unknown origin, I assumed Italian as it resembles scraffito Bittosi style pieces I've had in the past, but a kind gentleman suggested I try this board and suggests perhaps another country of origin, based on his expertise. Acquired second hand , so there is no history. Found in California, it is wired for US electric, not overseas. I'm trying to avoid taking apart the lamp to check for maker/hallmark on base of pottery. This lamp is incised, part gloss glaze, part matte finish, and about 8 inches round. Vintage, and a cvery cute piece,--however it is flawed, a chip to tail. Thanks to anyone who may recognise. thankyou!

Is it just me or does this have a Scandi feel to it?

Anyway, i have a feeling you may have to take it apart to see if it is marked, but my bet is Scandinavian.

I gone and blundered again! Sorry bout that Pip:-) You've many friends have come to your defense this day........
Cooeeey Laurie - I'm the 'gentleman' that suggested you come here (I'm a lady but don't worry everyone thinks I'm male for some reason!)... I suggested to Laurie that it looked Scandi and not Italian too but that's all I could say ...

Yeah your right Pip, but this bird reminds me of something and it's nagging at me, i'm sure some one else will have that feeling too.

Thanks again!I will try and go post a bio to introduce myself a weebit, i see there's a place for one--I should have kept pic thru the years of all the things that have passed on--never been one much for record keeping! My Mom was a potter in the 50s and 60s and i have a love of it, likely an early childhood imprint:-)
by for now--Laurie
