Jug /vase with incised pattern and GERMANY stamp - ID = AKKO Krinkel Keramik

Anyone have any ideas about this one?

Red clay, white slip, brown top coat lightly brushed on and incised to reveal the white slip.

Impressed marks on base: 235/16 and GERMANY inside an oval.  I imagine that the 10/- in pencil was the original price.

I like it a lot, but have no idea who made it.  I'd guess it's pre-Berlin-Wall, but that's all.

It's a lovely piece and I would guess pre-War because it just says Germany

Yes, I have come across this particular pattern and mark before in jugs and large vases and bowl. They were produced also in a dark green colour. As you probably know, 235 is the shape number and 16 is the height of the item in centimetres.

If I were to take a guess I might say Sawa would be worth investigating, other possibilities are Eiwa and Wekara

The numbers are obviously pressed in using a carpenter's number stamps.

Two other suggestions I've had are Spara and Kotem.  However all the Spara I've seen has had white clay, and I've never heard of Kotem!

I have it on very good authority that this jug is AKKO Krinkel Keramik, which was the earlier name of Wekara. Thank you Kevin Graham

The Polish is German  :24: and yours is older, note the W. Germany. Kev wouldn't have given me the answer if he wasn't 100% sure

Ach, scheisse! Ich hatte nur den obenen Text bemerkt! (I did German A-level, I did!). Sometimes I just absorb info without realising what language sthg is in!  I just meant it was on Polish eBay.

I do believe you (and Kev), really!  I just meant that the Wekara vase base was of the same style. Red clay; stamped, incised numbers, etc.
Seriously happy, cos this one had me beat. :kissy:
