earthenware plate
« on: February 10, 2009, 01:21:05 PM »
I have 2 blue and white earthenware plates with the Eternal Light Peace Memorial Gettysburg on the front and the gettysburg address on the back. It is marked Old English Staffordshire Ware with Jonroth mark and Adams mark on the back. It also says "imported exclusively for N.A. Meligakes Gettysburg P.A." Can anyone pass on any info about it, eg year of make, value etc. Thanks

The Adams mark has the crown shape used from 1914 to 1940
Jonroth was a mark of Ridgways (Belford) Works Ltd and was used from the 1930s to about 1956 exclusively for the American firm of John H Roth & Co. See here. Click on the sub-links as well for more info

I suggest your plate is 1930s, by a process of deduction, and N.A. Meligakes Gettysburg P.A. was the retailer
