I have no idea Keith. Not a bad idea though, i've seen things made from ship wood so why not Aeroplane propeller wood.
It says on Rose's link that the patterns are mainly geometric so i dunno really.
I'm just looking at the design of it. It's kind of pyramid shaped box with 8 groves running through the centre, then it has a sort of flower like pattern with tiny branches running around it. It looks to me as if it's Art Deco with maybe a little bit of Art Nouveau thrown in.
I did find this one which is Art Nouveau....
http://www.treadwaygallery.com/ONLINECATALOGS/March2004/ACWEB/0344.jpgNice Art Nouveau box, French, wooden form with intricately carved pinecone and moth design on lid, original finish, signed, 9"w, nice example. Estimate ?230-250
Wishful thinking, i know.
