Ceramic Horse - I Dunno ???
« on: September 17, 2010, 05:38:30 AM »
Hi, I bought this because -- well -- I just liked the look of it.  Have no ideas on it.  Looks like it is signed on the Bottom in Gold with *Bonita* or something like that.  Anyone have any ideas about this Horse?

Thanks -- I really like the looks of it...   ;D

Hiya Rose! :kissy: I think yours is a match to that one yes, but I'm not convinced that the eBay one is actually Bitossi - especially as it's not marked with the impressed mark. There seems to be a little keyword spamming in that title as well!  ;D

The Bitossi horses I've seen have four separate legs too rather than having the front and rear ones combined like yours/eBay one.
Examples [url#http://www.designonline.co.nz/Products/Rimini-Blu;jsessionid=25VlMTqQsZRthQP1R674LhsxCwLw7SL291RWsydtQywmQ5v2rf5GWvn2m5G5ZvNG3CnvM1DnvpZv4DQTtClLgz5MYMyFzSB0bNn9DMJXzch8nrTfnDMghjSD9jsnYKQf!411379335]HERE[/url]

I'd be happier if someone who really knows about Bitossi were able to take a look and confirm they both are.

I've never seen Bitossi in the colour of yours... it looks as if it's unglazed, is that the case?

Whatever they are they are really nice, but my suspicion is Italian but not Bitossi.  :pst:
Cheers!

I'm feeling mexican. Not glazed, general style is aztecish and the name Bonita which is Spanish. What do you think?

Rose, I've got one in a blue colour and its marked AP 153 Made in England.  I think its Anglia Pottery but will have to check back.  I reckon these date back to the 50-60's.  Because mine is a blue colour I thought at first it was a Bitossi one, but that was before I saw the markings on the underside.

I think these are fantastic!  Mine lives on top of my fireplace and is really at home with my Bitossi 'bits'.

Will post a pic. of my blue one tomorrow for interest.

Can't think why yours has 'Bonita' on the base, but may be something to do with the retailer your side of the pond.

Here's my blue Anglia Pottery England version.
--------------------------
Added as an afterthought.

Could it be "Bonvita" on the base?  The name just rang a bell.  I've got an original 1960s Pukeberg glass lamp.  I also managed to get hold of an original vintage advertisement from the U.S.A. for the lamp, which had the name "Bonvita" printed on it, and "Bonniers Gallery NYC".
