spider and a fly art deco

Hi
I have had this for a while now and i show it now .It has no Hall marks but i am sure it is silver possibly French ? But almost certainly art deco 1906- i think . The spider is 25mm the web and fly are 35mm the chain is 80mm long

Ooh very nice!  It's given me an excuse to look in my Millers Jewellery book.    I think the stone might be topaz (or paste equivalent). The book says that topaz is a birthstone - for November.  Their section on insect brooches doesn't include a spider amongst their beasties, but generally speaking says that insect brooches were popular from the mid 19thC onwards because of interest in natural history.

Hi Anne  I think it must be paste as the fly has two diamonds and the web has one. Bought it as costume jewelry.

Hi there:

Can we get a closer, and bigger (cropped) pic of it?  It looks topaz to me too, as I am one that has a Birthday in November.  Looks Topaz color to me, IMHO ... :bzy:

Many costume jewelry was also made with *Costume* Topaz Stones too

Hi Anne yes the more i look the better it looks but i can not find any hall marks .I think i will take it to a jeweller see what he thinks let you know.

The nearest I've found to it is this  http://www.sassyclassics.com/figurals.htm described as 1930s - but it's fussier than yours.
