My mother bought this on a car boot, closest thing i could find is this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beautiful-ancient-Roman-bronze-gladiator-statue-/152170846846

Not sure if this one is genuine or not, it's smaller (9.5cm) and has a mark on the back.

Not sure how these things were made originally but on the last picture, top left the marks look like those left by an angle grinder or similar tool, hope I'm wrong and it's really old but I've seen this mark on metalware before and it always puts me off.

You're probably right, souvenir from Greece. Someone on Collectors Weekly told me it's Athena/Minerva. Seen a few more in alabaster and metal. I would say this is more brass than bronze. I ran it under the metal detector and it doesn't come out as bronze but somewhere under silver, meaning it's probably brass.
