Modern-ish ceramic butter dish.. John Hunt & Co
« on: August 14, 2007, 01:26:07 PM »
Can anyone identify for me who John Hunt & Co might be please? As is Hunt's Original Hot Top Butter Softener which carries a mark for an Industrial Copyright 1982. I bought my first of these brand new just after I'd moved to London, from a shop in Tottenham Court Road, and it worked brilliantly until it came to a sad end on the quarry tiled floor some years ago. I managed to find a replacement on eBay - see attached - but haven't managed to find out who John Hunt & Co is - I'm assuming British because of the Industrial Copyright notice but can anyone add more please?
Cheers!

Probably not a UK company, there isn't registration of industrial copyright in the UK see here    Mod: Link updated after they'd reorganised their pages!

My bad, thanks Christine. I thought there was one - I wonder where I was thinking of?  Well it's an English-speaking country, so that narrows it down a little. :) I'll move this to the general ID forum instead until we can track them down.
Cheers!

Ho hum! My replacement one has been Tiggered!

:thd:

My dearly beloved husband managed to clout the lid of it with something heavy (a wall cupboard I think!)  and took a chunk out of it, so I now have a hot top butter dish without the hot top!  :boohoo:

:pst:  I suppose it did well to survive him for 10+ years.... he is very good at breaking things!  :fby:
Cheers!
