Royal Bayreuth mold/ not Royal Bayreuth?
« on: November 19, 2022, 01:52:30 PM »
I can't figure out the what and why of this porcelain pitcher. Seems to be a Royal Bayreuth mold as evidenced by marked examples found on the internet.

My uncolored glazed example has a hollow handle. the number 43 and cipher [ HC reversed? ] molded in the base. Conjoined initials EA neatly  scratched into the wet clay. A wiping of the glaze on the outside bottom edge is evident before firing. Any thought most welcome, as I am at wits end on this piece

  Another example from the web.
Clay separation I assume happened during firing of the body, since sealed by the glaze.
Is it not odd that the two examples said to be marked are not exactly the same? I realize that the colors could be different. The red example has more piercings along the upper edge than the green example.
