Topic: Prattware Pot Lids

Do we have anyone here with any expertise in Pot Lids?  I would quite like to find the correct name and rough date for this one:

I am ordering a book on Pot Lids, as I go through quite a few, but mainly fairly common ones that I know the name of,  but I am starting to buy slightly less common ones, and need some help until my book arrives....

Any pot lids make a nice change....

Yes, some of the plain black and white lids can be very valuable, and are obviously easier to reproduce than the full colour Prattware lids - I tend to leave the b&w alone.  I can see the decorative interest in the colour lids and other Prattware, but not in the b&w at all.....

Boy's toys you see..... I don't understand the mindset.....

Yes, but only a very few really, when you think how many are available.. I wonder if there is extra info for members?  Possibly, like the Paperweight Circle, most info is in the newsletter/magazines rather than on the website.

Is Prattware by the same company that made 'Pratt's Greek' - copies of traditional Greek-style black and white vases, jugs, etc.?

Not sure - I've never heard of those?  These are made by F Pratt in the mid to late 19th century, a few have marks, most don't.  You can tell if they are proper Prattware transfers by the registration marks to each side of the pot lid, the new repro ones don't have those, as they are one single multi coloured transfer, whereas the Victorian ones were made of different colours put on separately.
