Unmarked altered trumpet vase
« on: August 03, 2007, 09:44:21 PM »
Hello folks,

I have a stoneware trumpet vase which has been very well made. Its light and the glaze is interesting too. At first I thought it might have come from Dart Pottery ... but the base has been finished off with a rim. Just to make matters more interesting I have acquired a second piece by the same maker only it is shorter and has not been altered.
Has anyone any idea who might have made it?

... Great site ... I hope to bring more stuff and info ...

Hi Sue C,
Thanks for the quick response.
The pot has no marks underneath.
... And unfortunately I have no other information ... other than it is a well made pot, and beautifully glazed.
Here is a pic of the base:

... I forgot to mention that the base picture shows the glaze running down ... it could be covering a mark, but the other similar pot, made by the same potter, does not haver any marks at the side.

... It stands 8inches high and is 5 inches wide at the widest width at the top (... that sounds a bit weird but the top has been slightly squeezed to produce an elliptical shape)
