Using a good descriptive Subject for your post will be more effective than something vague or generic. Subjects such as Please help, Help needed, or What is this? do not tell others what you're wanting help with, nor will they catch the eye of members with specific areas of interest. Rather than the examples above, something like Blue pottery jug, maker sought, or Stoneware cruet set or Iridescent lidded pot with feet, etc... will probably work better for you.
More importantly still, they will not be found so easily when someone searches the board. Search uses the Subject field as a primary search match, so making sure the Subject is relevant to your question will benefit both you and searchers.
