Little Hungarian Vase - SAROSPATAK
« on: January 20, 2008, 11:07:58 AM »
Hi, I have this little vase that my Grandmother had brought back from Hungary....(MY European Roots).  It says on it SAROSPATAK -- Which I think may be a place.  Sorry --I no speakie the language  ???  I have some more items, just got to dig them out...

BUT hey, it has a (paper) label on it, and do you wish to be added to Gallery?

Anyone know anything more?
Every flower that has ever bloomed, had to go through a whole lot of DIRT FIRST......:flowers2:

Yes please add labels to the Gallery Rose (you don't need to ask, just add them. :))

S?rospatak  is a place in northern Hungary - see Wikipedia entry for it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1rospatak - your vase might show a pic of the castle... see the aerial view of the castle on Wikipedia.

The maker seems to be the Bodrogke Resztur(?) Keramia - again Bodrogke appears to be a place in Hungary - there's a river Bodrog (slight difference in spelling) which gives its name to the valley in which S?rospatak lies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodrog
Cheers!
