Ceramica Titano footed dish
« on: August 28, 2009, 07:20:54 PM »

I bid on and won a box of assorted household items (tat) at a local auction because I just wanted this retro dish.  Its made by Ceramica Titano in San Marino, Italy.  It has a 'fat lava' type glaze around the edges and the girl's head appears to be sgraffito, and the jewel colour decoration looks like enamel, but not too sure.

I've never heard of the company before, but found this fab collection here, but my dish isn't shown.   http://italy119.wordpress.com/gallery/1-abstract-work/

It looks kind of 1950s.  There are two holes at each end of the feet with old string, and it looks as though it can also be displayed hung on a wall.

Not bad for ?2, and a working German brass carriage clock was also included :o ;D The rest is going to the charity shop.

Very pretty. Those are quite desirable, especially when marked. It's not just the one pottery these are from; it's a San Marino thing, a bit like Valluris

It will be ebayed at some point ;D.  Greg has something similar, but not from San Marino, and that too looks very '50s.  I'll take a pic. when I'm next round there.   I like '50-60's style, it still manages to look quite contemporary.

I think there is German stuff and Scandinavian stuff along similar lines.
