« on: August 12, 2007, 03:04:07 AM »
Does anyone know who the Rd no on this piece was registered by please?  Rd no 496114 - it's yellow and grey lustre ware.
Cheers!

The number ties up to 1907, but I don't know the maker.  My mini-Godden has the makers for Victorian diamond reg nos but not for the later Rd nos.

Thanks Lynne, I wish I could find the later RD numbers online like we have for glass, but perhaps there are too many of them. 1907 is earlier than I'd expected... I'm finding all my date-guesses for pottery are way out!

TC, Maling is a new pottery name on me, can you tell me any more about them please?
Cheers!

Since it's impressed it will be the shape that was registered then, so it might be much later.

It must be this cup and saucer that it reminded me of...

Do you think it's maling or am i just barking up the wrong tree here?  ;D

Sorry Anne, but your vase is neither Maling (too thickly potted) nor early 20th C. I'd date it towards the '50s. The number is not a design registration mark, which is usually shown as 'Rg', 'Rd' or 'Reg', but never, in my experience, 'Rc'. It's more likely to be a mold number. I can't place the maker but the shape and lustre glaze certainly point to the 1950s.
If you always expect the worst you'll never be disappointed.

You know, I'd not noticed it was a c not a d!   I'll have to get it down off the shelf and double-check that. Thank you.
