Paragon China
« on: May 26, 2015, 02:37:36 AM »
I've been unable to find the pattern name for this one, nor anything with the same pattern. Partly hand painted and art nouveau in style, it bears the Star China Co monogram under a crown.

The mark dates, says a defunct site, to 1903, but I managed to rescue the image with the date even thought the site itself is dead. No idea what the source of the image is though. :(

This set has the same mark though:

Just adding a couple of useful Paragon links too:

http://chinasearch.co.uk/buy/paragon/

There was also a Paragon collectors' club, but it has gone. The site is accessible via the Way Back Machine here though:

Wow! 11 trios - you could have a tea party TC! :)  Pinterest has some fascinating stuff and you can create and curate your own boards too. I like it!
Cheers!

Personally, I love Pinterest. Not for the followers or the number of pins, but that you can simple note things that you want to remember and there it is....

Carolyn, can you do me a favour please? Click this gallery link and tell me what you see? It's working for me but TC is getting odd errors that I can't reproduce here.  Ta! :) http://www.yobunny.com/pottery/Gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=0

Yeah, it will be good for me who likes to search for stuff on ebay and other places. I'm guessing it only works on certain websites as i would imagine it would use people's bandwidth. I'm not sure how it works though.

That set i mentioned above might be worth a bit of money. A few days ago i saw a similar trio sell for £57, although it had a cake plate with it as well. But one trio for £57. :thd:

Some of the prices for Paragon are quite surprising. I swear i saw similar trios in charity shops years ago and they would have £5-10 on them. Depending on which pattern, they could go up to £100 or more these days. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_sop=3&_nkw=paragon%20trio&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

I think you get more for trios rather than selling them in sets, i'm not sure though.

Wow! That's a decent price, TC. They do seem to be quite saleable at the moment, a lot of folks are doing vintage catering at, for example, weddings, so have trios works well, as each guest has one set, rather than a whole mix and match of patterns.
Cheers!
