I bought this, it must have been about 8-10 years ago, from the charity shop that I'm still working at now. I paid around ?10 for it so I probably paid the right price for it. I didn't even know what Purbeck was back then but I liked it.

Yes, Russel is Guy's son born in 1954 on the motor torpedo boat "Oklahoma" that was his parent's home at the time moored at Hamworthy in Poole Harbour. His full name is Russel Arne, named after Russel Quay on the Arne peninsular in the Wareham channel.

He must have had a pretty interesting childhood, growing up amongst the islands of Poole Harbour and learning pottery with his father using their home built kiln. Guy used to dig his own clay on the islands and use seawater for the salt glaze. Russel's mother Joan also made pottery beads so it was a real family affair.

Purbeck Pedlar (later Purbeck Pottery) was set up in 1966 by a number of Poole Pottery ex-employees, including Robert Jefferson and Bruce Sydenham. Bruce had taken over from Leslie Elsden as head of spraying at Poole. Poole traditional paintress Josephine Sydenham was Bruce's daughter.

Russel was at Purbeck for a time in the mid-1970's. I can't add much more to the Cotswold Collectables link. As far as I am aware Russel still works at New Barn pottery in Bradford Peverell near Dorchester, where he still has a wheel made by his father back in the 1960's. There's a link here http://www.newbarn.co.uk/pottery1.htm

Russel's partner (wife?) is Lesley Collington, a potter in her own right. Here's a Russel Sydenham candlestick:
