Record Cover - 70's
« on: June 24, 2008, 02:31:23 AM »
(( maybe this does not go here...????))

Hi, I have this record cover of the Canadian Rock Group (with Record inside) but the design appears to be very hippie looking, so I assume it must be from the late 60's/70's.  It is kinda neat graphics....

Hope you enjoy, and if you know anything else on this record cover...thanks for letting me know.

Rock On........ :party_animal: :rocker:

Found this now You tube.  one says late 60's, and then another says 1971, so I guess in that era somewhere;

Don't know about collectible but he still sells copies of various ones ( not this one from what I can see ) from his own web site and there's a market out there for them it would seem :-)

The cover itself is from 1968 and although not the first one he ever did it's the same year he started out doing album covers so it's a very early work and as such it probably has some value for that alone ?

Probably best to stress the early nature of the artwork and also that Roger Dean is very well known for the album covers of the progressive rock band Yes - amongst others. I have a few of the Yes ones - but I ain't selling <lol>

Hope this is of help.

Barry, aka Tigger_bouncy_peep :-)

PS - the band Lighthouse are most infamously known as the one that were invited to Woodstock but didn't go. Baaaad move <lol>

My eldest sprog collects vinyls - partic. 60s psychedelic and prog.rock.  I'll ask him to check to see if its in his Record Collector book for value. I know that as well as the covers being collectable, record labels are too.  He collects anything from Blue Horizon? plus others that don't mean a clue to me. :)

We had a look in Record Collector. Lighthouse appears, but its not clear if this is the same group as no details are shown.  None of the albums shown match your title unfortunately (all dated 1970 or 1971 and on the RCA or Vertigo Swirl label).  They also appear to be all British press and not Canadian or American.  If it is the same group (?), then the values range from ?15 to ?40 in mint condition.

Sorry can't be of more help Rose.  :)
