Topic: Unusual Vase with Enamelled Decoration on Celadon Ground - Japanese?

Just wondering if anyone has any further information about this little vase. The body is in a white paste. It has a celadon glaze all over the exterior and has then been enamelled with a design of birds, flowers & branches. The foot is an unusual shape with circular indentations and small clouds painted between. It stands approx. 7 inches tall.

From the foot and the style of the decoration I believe this is Japanese rather than Chinese. My guess at age would be late 19th century, but I'm not so knowledgeable about Japanese wares so was hoping someone could shed a little more light on the piece.

I was wondering -- since *WE* get so used to looking on the bottom for a mark -- MIGHT there be any type of initials, or signature in the designs on the vase (like in the flowers, or the grass, etc).

I myself always forget to look around in other areas to see *IF* I might have missed something.....as marks might not always be on *just* the bottom.

Take a peek around the sides....see anything there??  Just a long-shot guess...
