Topic: MEDALTA POTTERY VASE (Canadian)

Hi, I had posted this in the wrong place....but hopefully, I am not so , and more awake today.

I purchased this little vase for $1.99 at a thrift store.   It is marked on the bottom with:

          MEDALTA
         POTTERIES
       MEDICENE HAT
          CANADA

Trying a search, I did find one similar in color, and with the same stamp on Ebay.ca, item number  190069980238 .

I per the other thread  *Canadian Crocks* that I posted here by the same company, I too, did not know that they made other smaller items like vases, and with this type of color/glaze.  When I saw it, and turned it over, and saw the mark...well, I grabbed it, as this was something that I had never seen done by Medalta pottery either. 

I (think) that it is rather a uncommon piece by this company, and since they are more well known here for their crocks (rather than vases) here in Canada, I myself found this as an usual piece.  I like the colors too...

Any thoughts on this?     Thanks.

Has anyone compared the similarities of the Ebay.ca vase (item number  190069980238) with the same stamp of Medalta, as mine posted above?  Any opinions/comments

They do look very similar, except for the mark on the bottom. But your's very blurry so it is hard to say. The mark on the ebay one seems to be quite smaller and also much clearer. Does Medalta have a website?

I will take another photo of the base.  I am using a *camera/phone*, and it does not have a close-up (macro) lens.  Kid wrecked digital camera...fell on it while skateboarding.

I will take one further away, and maybe when you click on the image here, you will be able to see it clearer.....but that is my camera, and me just trying to get too darn close.  yes, I have googled Medalta and been going through them.  I will try to find my bookmarks on it, but I have so many.....kinda doing an inventory of my household, and antiques.  I will take another photo, and as soon as my son gets them on the computor, I get them to be re-posted...

This site (  http://www.canadiandesignresource.ca/officialgallery/?cat=2&paged=1  ) has some Medicene Hat potteries, and Medalta examples, PLUS some other excellant examples of some very different Blue Mountain Pottery (BMP) here too, like the rare Apollo Vases that were made only for 3 years (1977-1980) by BMP.
