Nice big studio jug with funny looking mark, any ideas?
« on: July 31, 2007, 10:59:10 PM »
I have this very large studio pottery jug. The mark is not very clear, which is a shame as it seems nicely made, nice quality and all.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks, Tony.

TC, what does the mark in the center of the circle look like to you?

Hi, Sue, Perhaps it is a "T" which has gone a bit wobbly.

Not willing to give up yet, I'm wondering if it's maybe an "F" that is leaning to the right.

It's 10 inches high, I think the width of it makes it look bigger.

I'm not familiar with Aussie pottery, in what way is it 'very Aussie'?

The decoration reminds me of Bulrush plants.

The style and the colouring. We have a lot of smaller artist galleries here that make their own pottery. You can go in and buy whole matching dinnersets, cups, plates etc. It was super popular here in the early 90's. Its dropped off a bit, but you still have the galleries that sell etc. I dont think there's much like that on ebay, but if I see something I'll show you.

Reminds me of maidenhair fern or maidenhair tree leaves rather than bulrushes. It's a super jug though... do any of our new members recognise it please?
Cheers!
