Here is a pix of a old washboard that I have.  Some have copper on them, or some have glass  .  Here in Canada, they are highly collectible....and moreso the ones with glass  .....ahem, excuse me -- did NOT say the word

I had an old wood and zinc one lurking in the back of the wardrobe - I'd bought it to paint canal roses on and never got around to doing it. It has now been re-homed with a a neighbour in the village who plays in a skiffle band! With the addition of a few bits of wood and a few bells and a handful of metal thimbles he can get a good tune off it!
