Clay pigeon wall plaque
« on: January 03, 2008, 07:47:40 PM »
I think this Belgian wall plaque is made by Roger Guerin? The sig is almost the same as the one I saw on a vase the other day.

It's seems to be commemorating a Clay Pigeon event. I can't find another the same so I presume it's not mass produced?

It reads: GRAND PRIX DE CHARLEROI, C.T.F.C. CHARLEROI, STAND DE FOSSE-LA-VILLE-BELGIQUE 200 TRAP FOSSE OLYMPIQUE 11 ET 12 AVRIL 1982.

Fosse la Ville seems to be a town in Belgium and Fosse Olympique seems to be a particular type of clay pigeon competition. And this would appear to be the Grand King Charles prize
OLYMPIC FOSSE:

The pit is situated 15 metres from 5 shooting in turn taken up the 6 shooters constituting the "board". 5 groups of 3 aircraft launch distribute plates at an angle and speed unknown to the shooter. The angles of adjustment launchers are established between 0 ? and 45 ? right or left. Distances drop trays are brought between 75 and 80 metres.

The competition takes place on 125 rounds fired by trays of 25. The shooter triggered by the pitcher microphone. It shoulder before the onset of the plateau. It can use cartridges by 2 plateau. Have allowed to compete all the caliber rifles which does not exceed the 12 and cartridges loaded with 24 grams of lead up.

After competing in 125 trays, 6 best shooters resume competition for a final round of 25 targets "flash" (which release a fluorescent powder when they occur).
The outcome of the final score is added to the eliminatory match

Actually there seem to be quite a few for varying sports including body building. Charleroi is also a Belgian town named after Charles II of Spain
