Little Black shiny vase ?
« on: January 14, 2008, 04:25:57 AM »
Hi.  I have this little (about 6 inches) black shiny vase that I got.  I too a *shine* (play on words here) to it, as it has what looks like the letters AR on the bottom of it.  I use some cigerette ashes to try to show the letters better.

I liked this cause I too am AR (Antique Rose).....and no (honestly) I did not make this....I only bought it cuz it said the letters on it.

Note:  Maybe it is not AR on the bottom -- but that is what it looks like to me (?)

Any ideas? thanks

I googled *pottery signed AR* and did come up with these sites...but still ???

http://www.welostourmarbles.com/NorthCarolinaPotery2.html

On this site (Scroll down to the one designated P15), and it does say (?) "Platter, Alfred Renoleau, signed AR on the back."  ???http://majolica.chez-alice.fr/palissy.htm

And I found this site:  http://www.palissy.com/04_01_arts_journal.html   and if you scroll down to the very bottom of the page, it does say here that Alfred Renoleau did sign either AR, or A. Renoleau (But have not found an example of how it was AR was signed)  :-\

But most likely I am way off in left field.....it was just what I pulled up when I *googled*....you folks would know more that me, and most likely (more) about this person...

One could always dream.....while I am in left field (most likely)  :24:
