He will be made very welcome down here Christine
A big thank you
Pip - you're spot on - Stavangerflint! Just love their pieces with their retro pattern designs, but don't come across it very often. This one's just for show. I would never actually use it for anything. I did have a jug once, with stylised fish/lemons on and got a really good price at the time for it. Just wish I'd kept it.
Hi skay
They can go for as much as ?5 in charity shops, but look out for them at carboots where you can get them much cheaper with a bit of luck. I've picked them up for as little as ?1. However, I think there is one particular one that is supposed to be attributed to Clarice Cliffe
that seems to get a good price on eBay, but I don't know if that attrib. is true or not.
I actually cooked the pie with them in
. But I wouldn't risk ever doing that again. May be I'd add one afterwards just for effect. I have got a bog-standard ceramic plain one somewhere, and would use that instead, but I don't think it's really necessary to use them (not with my baking anyway
I did see an elephant one some time ago which was decorated to look like an Indian elephant. Wish I'd bought it now just out of interest.
