Booty from Belgium.
« on: August 26, 2007, 05:24:05 PM »

I am feeling a little chuffed with myself today  ;D Dean is working and Annelies has gone to Efteling (like Alton Towers) with our English visitors, so Jan and I decided to go to Genk, to the last fleamarket of the year. It was HUGE!! It took us hours to walk around and, as you would expect, there was plenty of rubbish. I did however, manage to pick up these 4 pieces for the princely sum of ?2,50.
I know that one glass vase (very right) is a Vladislav Urban design for Rosice (millions of thanks to Marcus Newhall, and his fab site). I am not sure about the other one, but the quality is there and I will do a little looking around for more info. Of course, I haven't got a clue on the FL vases  ::) but I love the orange one, and, the little less exciting, beige one is so crusty that it is just too cool.
I have had a ball today, just laughing and chatting with OH, without any interuptions. The best, and cheapest, day out for a long time.  ;D

Hi Pip  ;D
The base of the beige one is just white clay, no signatures or numbers, or anything for that matter. The Scheurich piece is 22.5cm, so I presume that it would be a 400/22 (not that I know what height ranges they came in  :new: )
There are also no visible numbers on the base of the orange one, it is too crusty!!

I don't know if they are from the same factory, Pip, but I did find this vase, which is terribly similar in form to yours. This one has a label for UEBELACKER(?-keramik).
Is yours glazed?

There is hardly any glaze on mine worth mentioning, Pip, it is totally rough to the touch and matte. I was actually looking for a vase similar to mine, amongst the large number that are on offer for sale over here, not actually trying to identify yours. It was the obvious glaze on the one I linked to that prompted me to ask about the glaze on yours.
Yes, the base finish in mine looks the same as that of your pieces, just sponged(?) flat. Hard set foamy, is a good description, with craters  ;D

Well done Della. Were you wearing a stripe top, beret and mask at the time ?
I like both pots- shapes, AND glazes / textures.

We in the Dutch part of Belgium, Pete, so I refrained from wearing the beret etc.  ;) :kissy:
