Although we are not primarily a Glass Discussion forum I thought members may be interested in knowing of an important Scottish glass vase which is on the market. It is hoped this will be bought by the Perth Museum if sufficient funding can be raised to do so. Please do support the appeal if you can.
The Vincent Ysart vase is a unique and special piece of Vasart glass that was made with love by Vincent Ysart as a birthday gift for his wife Catherine in the 1950's.
The vase was acquired in the 1980's from Vincent's widow, by Frank Andrews, co-author of the book Ysart Glass (published 1990); it was featured on the jacket of the book and in most of the press reviews when the book was launched.
Now it needs to be sold and, ideally, this unique piece should be held in a museum collection for everyone to see and enjoy, preferably in Scotland where the item was made.
The Perth Museum & Art Gallery would like to buy this vase and a price has been agreed subject to them obtaining the necessary funding. They will need support from glass collectors and enthusiasts to help raise the money.
By making a donation to the Perth Museum to help pay for this vase you can ensure it is available for anyone to see and enjoy in the future. All payments will be refunded if the Museum are unable to raise the agreed amount.
