Shafford//Japan -- on Teacup and Saucer
« on: March 01, 2008, 08:32:36 PM »
Hi, I have this.  Was not sure where to put as it has Shafford (and Japan) on it ???  So where would this go in the gallery?  Need help to date, etc first.

Shafford (stamp crest, and ribbon underneath it, all in black color)
                      Hand Painted
                      Japan

Thanks as always.. ;)

Oriental for Japan, Rose. :)

There's another Shafford hand-painted cup and saucer set here, which will give you a guide price: http://www.historyandnostalgia.com/china/CH007471.htm and there are lots of Shafford patterns listed on Replacements, so you may be able to pin down which pattern yours is from those:

Cheers!

I've had a look round and I wonder if Shafford was a decorating company/distributor - note the similarity to Stafford (shire). So many of the cups look like classic Staffordshire shapes
