Unknown Pitcher (orange/brown)?
« on: March 04, 2008, 11:10:13 AM »
Hi, I got this, and have no idea of it.  It is quite large, and has the number 292 marked on the base.  The other things are just felt things...

Hello Rose, being new to this site I'm enjoying looking through the old posts, and I hope that the little knowledge I have can help solve some old mysteries, such as this one!
I used to have a very similar sugar bowl and cream jug in the identical colourway. Neither were marked by the maker  but one had the original label on. They were from a Canadian pottery but for the life of me I cannot remember the name. I think that it was something like 'Valaris' or 'Valarus' but don't quote me on that. I'll dig through my older files when I get a chance, hopefully I will have listed them somewhere.

Or more possibly Vangelis, I'm sure that was the name.

I've found it! The Canadian pottery was called Vangeline.

Phew, got there in the end
Only question now is, is your piece Evangeline or did I lead you down a blind alley?

The trouble with a lot of this Canadian drip ware is that the glazes are very similar, which means it's hard to tell unless there's a mark or a label and there were/are quite a lot of potteries
